Keloids is a form of scar which is usually pink in color, and it is mainly composed of collagen. Whenever you get any injury, fibrous tissue is formed over the wound to repair it, and in a few instances, these fibrous tissues developed are hard and smooth, which are known as Keloids. Keloids can be formed anywhere, but it is widespread at the neck, ear lobes, upper trunk, arms and most commonly on the chest. Though Keloids are harmless and non-contagious, it may give pain, itching and changes in the texture since Keloids are formed due to injuries which can be caused by acne, vaccination, chickenpox scars, body piercing, insect bite, tattoos, surgical cuts, insect bite, hereditary factors and burns.
Keloid scars are usually more massive than the wound itself, and they may take months to develop. If someone develops Keloids, he may feel self-conscious primarily when it is located in a visible area, ok skin, and it is massive.
